Sierra Leone Wrestlers Shows Optimism Ahead Of Championship And Japan Olympic Games

Wrestlers in Sierra Leone are presently training hard to take part in the Osania competition and the Africa Championship in Morocco including the Japan Olympic Games.

According to the Head Coach of the National team, Edward Alie Bangura the wrestlers are preparing for two competitions in Morocco.

He went on that the first competition will be the Oceania which will take place in Agajida in Morocco on the 2-4th April 2021.

The African Champion will start on the 6-10 April 2021 at the same place in Morocco. Apart from the two competitions, he said for Wrestler Foday Kargbo he is also preparing for the Japan Olympic Games in July this year.

Bangura said in their last competition they return home with Bronze medals but assured that they will return home from Morocco with gold and the least will be Silver medals.

This, he said is because the Wrestlers are in high spirit to win more medals for Sierra Leone.

He appealed to the government, business houses and individuals to come onboard and give them financial boost to enable them prepare for the upcoming competitions.

Foday Kargbo, the Olympic Solidarity scholarship holder and a potential qualifier for the Olympic Games said his aim is to win gold now for Sierra Leone.

He went on that he will win gold medal in the upcoming Africa Championship in Morocco which will boost him for the Japan Olympic Games.

Apart from Foday, majority of the Wrestlers have said Bronze medal is not their portion anymore but silver and gold will be their portion.

The team is presently training at the Makawago hall at Kissy Mess Mess in Freetown.
