Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has firmly reaffirmed his identity as a loyal and committed member of the All People’s Congress (APC), declaring himself a “100% undiluted APC member” while positioning himself as a strong and principled voice within the party’s leadership.
Articulating his political stance, Dr. Bangura emphasized his unwavering dedication to the APC’s core values, noting that his allegiance is grounded in a long-standing belief in the party’s vision for national development, unity, and democratic governance. He described his commitment as consistent and unshaken, underscoring his readiness to contribute meaningfully to the party’s future direction.
He stressed the importance of unity within the APC, calling on members at all levels to strengthen internal cohesion and discipline. According to him, a united front remains critical for the party to effectively engage the electorate and play a decisive role in shaping Sierra Leone’s political landscape.
Positioning himself as a leader driven by inclusion and progress, Dr. Bangura noted that the APC must continue to evolve by embracing innovation while remaining anchored in its founding principles. He advocated for constructive engagement within the party, urging open dialogue and mutual respect as essential pillars for sustainable leadership.
Dr. Bangura further underscored the need for responsible, forward-looking leadership, emphasizing that the APC must demonstrate clarity of purpose and a firm commitment to addressing the aspirations of citizens. He maintained that leadership within the party should be guided by integrity, accountability, and a deep sense of national responsibility.
Demonstrating his commitment to party unity, he stepped in 2018 from a potential bid for the position of National Secretary General on the advice of senior party elders. He also played a key mediating role during internal tensions involving the National Reformation Movement (NRM), helping to facilitate dialogue and restore cohesion within the party.
Widely regarded as a unifying figure, Dr. Bangura is respected across various levels of the APC, including among flagbearer aspirants. His clean record free from corruption allegations combined with his academic background, political insight, and international exposure, has reinforced perceptions of him as a credible and transparent leader.
With growing support from former ministers and senior party members, he is increasingly viewed as a strong contender capable of fostering unity within the APC and positioning the party for future electoral success.
Dr. Bangura also acknowledged the role of the media in shaping political narratives, encouraging balanced and responsible journalism that supports democratic growth and informed public discourse.
