John Kargbo On The Run For Alleged Gay Acts

Report reaching this medium indicates that one John Kargbo of Congo water, wellington has been declared wanted by the police for allegedly practicing gay and bisexual activities in his area, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. John Kargbo is a Sierra Leonean born on 25th March, 1998.

The law states that male same-sex sexual activity is illegal under Section 61 of the Offences against the Person Act 1861, and imprisonment for life is possible. That is any one arrested and charged to court and found guilty for acts related to gayism, will face life imprisonment with hard labour.

Explaining the situation that led to John’s disappearance, a family member who appeared very worried over the whereabouts of John, whom he said, is the breadwinner of the family has told this press that she was made to understand that John was practicing gay with one Mr. Smith who came to Sierra Leone as a medical expert to do a survey on HIV/AID’s diseases.

On the 27th of April 2018, a gay-bisexual party was organised at the Saluma Hall at Wellington, which started at 10pm and was well attended by some gays. The source stated that about at12.30am in the morning hours of 28th April, they heard strange voices hitting at the hall door requesting for the door to be opened or else they would break in. John and friends in that party hall were terrified when they realized that they had been surrounded by armed police men and some community members.

While the police intensified hitting the door; John, Mr. Smith and others at the party managed to escape through the window, and that very night, they made their way out and fled the scene. Since after the raid that was conducted by the police on their gathering, his whereabout is still unknown.

However, for fear of being arrested and jailed by the police, John flee from the country leaving his family and friend because even the community people are also searching for him as the act goes against traditional and cultural moral standards of the community.

It was later learnt that he fled tp Guinea in order to save his life.

Since John and his friend disappeared, they have not been seen. He is still at large and the police are still searching for him.
