A Few Weeks To Elective Congress… Council Members Of Cricket Sierra Leone Endorse Francis Trevor Samura As Chairman

The council members of Cricket Sierra Leone have unanimously endorsed Francis Trevor Samura to continue as their chairman. According to the council members, Francis and his team of board members and management have done well in terms of developing the game.

As a result of that, they have said they have no plan to change the winning team. Francis, they said, is doing exactly what is needed to develop Cricket in Sierra Leone.

The Council members said they are the club owners and are the paid-up members in Cricket. According to the constitution of Cricket Sierra Leone, only paid-up club members and other approved stakeholders are qualified to vote and to be voted for.

The council members came out with this release when a publication in one of the local tabloids stated that the stakeholders in Cricket are not pleased with Francis and his entire management.

The publication stated that Francis is doing more harm than good to the development of Cricket.

The council members debunked the publication, terming it a malicious act to tarnish the character of their chairman.

The council members said they know those who have been contributing to the development of Cricket in Sierra Leone.

As such, they have asked them to put their mouths where their money is. They have advised them that they need to do the right by the constitution to become a member of the council.

According to the chairman, they have never stopped anyone from coming into Cricket. Some of those protesting, he said, were once into the game but decided to quit for reasons best known to them.

They quit and stopped their clubs from playing in the leagues, and since then, they have not paid a single cent for the past years as their yearly dues.

Francis went on to say that they are accusing him of misappropriating the Cricket fund, which he challenged them that if what they are saying is true, ICC will not give them the fund, as they always send a rundown of what they do with the money ICC sends to them.

At the moment, he said they are busy constructing two Cricket Ovals at the FBC ground in Freetown while at the same time expanding the game nationwide.
