FREETOWN, OCT. 7th (SALONE TIMES) –
Aspirant for the leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has unveiled a vision aimed at transforming the party into a united, inclusive and disciplined political movement capable of regaining public confidence and leading Sierra Leone.
Presenting his vision under the theme, “A United, Inclusive and Disciplined Political Party,” Dr. Bangura said the APC must be united by a shared commitment to grassroots mobilization, democratic governance, respect for the party’s constitution, and broad-based participation.
He stressed that unity remains the foundation of the party’s success, noting that the APC cannot effectively lead its supporters into government without internal cohesion.
“Without unity, the party cannot lead our supporters into government. Unity to me is respecting our constitution, upholding democratic values, and valuing the diversity of our perspectives and opinions under a disciplined leadership,” he stated.
Dr. Bangura pledged to prioritise reconciliation within the APC by bringing together aggrieved factions and resolving internal differences that have affected the party in recent years.
He also committed himself to creating a level playing field where members can freely participate and compete regardless of their ethnicity, region, district or gender. According to him, differing opinions should be welcomed, with all members operating under the same rules without favouritism or discrimination.
The APC aspirant further promised to provide selfless and effective leadership that responds to the growing aspirations of party supporters for modernisation, grassroots mobilisation, inclusivity, wider participation and discipline.
He said he envisions an APC whose national image enhances its electability and where every member feels welcomed, valued and empowered to contribute to the party’s development.
“I envision an APC where all members are united by a commitment to move Sierra Leone out of the doldrums of divisive and backward politics,” he said.
Dr. Bangura further pledged to ensure that the principles of inclusiveness and national representation are reflected both in the composition of the party’s leadership and in any future APC-led government.
He maintained that sustainable national development can only be achieved by harnessing the collective energy and talents of all Sierra Leoneans rather than promoting division based on ethnicity, political affiliation or family background.
“I will lead an APC where no one is advantaged or disadvantaged because of their ethnicity,” he declared, adding that he envisions a party that truly reflects Sierra Leone’s national character and rich diversity.
His vision emphasises unity, internal democracy, inclusiveness and disciplined leadership as the pillars for repositioning the APC as a modern political party capable of addressing the country’s development challenges and restoring public trust.
