The Sierra Leone Karate Federation (SLKF) on the 14th November 2020 organized 1st Freetown Kata Open and Dan Kata Open at the Siaka Steven Stadium Presidential Lounge.
A cash of Le30M and certificates were giving to the winners of various Dan demonstrations. In all, over 20 athletes were involved in the competition.
In the first Dan demonstration, AlieTuray of Vic Amara Karate School came first. Alie has represented Sierra Leone 3 times with a silver medal in the African Championship.
The 2nd Dan championship demonstration was won by San Vic Amara and the 3rd Dan by Abdulai Koroma with 5.6 points.
In the Open Kata demonstration Abdulai Koroma came first with 5.7 points in second was Abu Bakarr Kamara and the bronze winner was Vic Amara Jr.
After the demonstration, the President of the Federation Senesi Victor Amara said he was satisfied with the performance of the various athletes.
He assured all that if they continue like this, they will win laurels in any competition they will represent Sierra Leone.
The president of the National Olympic Committee Dr. Patrick Coker praised the federation for such a wonderful competition. He called on them that Coronavirus is still ravaging the world and as such, they should follow the foot step of other sports by testing their athletes for COVID19 before continuing with training.
To the athletes, he told them not to relent as COVID or no COVID international competitions will go ahead.
