The Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Association in Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA SLE) has appointed Ahmed Khanu as the new Secretary General, succeeding Joseph Nyande. Ahmed Khanu, a seasoned sports administrator, has a rich history in Sierra Leone’s sports sector.
He previously served as the Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association, was the former Minister of Sports, and is currently the president of the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association. Additionally, Ahmed Khanu is a member of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) technical committee.
According to the press release, Ahmed Khanu will serve as the acting Secretary General for six months, after which the NOC/CGA SLE will assess his performance and consider making the position permanent. The committee is confident that Ahmed Khanu’s extensive experience in sports governance and administration will be invaluable in advancing the mission and vision of the NOC/CGA SLE.
Prince Sualley, the president of NOC/CGA SLE, congratulated Ahmed Khanu on his appointment and welcomed him to the executive team. He expressed optimism for the future and wished Ahmed Khanu success in his new role.
