The Chairman of the Oversight Committee for Sports in Parliament Hon. Alusine Alu Conteh has informed SALONE TIMES Sports that the above committee is aware of the impasse in some of the sporting disciplines.

This he said is not bringing any development in the various sports but a setback.

The athletes, he said are the ones losing while few stakeholders enjoy what is meant to develop the various sports.

Among these sports he said are the two leading sports in the country football and athletics which have long time impasse that has brought division among the stakeholders and the athletes.

The other sports he said are cycling and Weight Lifting but for weight lifting, the matter is not much serious like football and athletics.

The Chairman said he believes the quick way to solve these problems is to organize elective congress.

So by doing this, he said his committee will be working with the sports ministry to make sure these sports organize a free and fair elective congress.

He called on the stakeholders in the various sports to be righteous and work with what the constitution states to develop the various sports.

For football in which the executive has over stayed in power, he said he believes they too can now prepare to go to congress but they have not stated a date yet.

According to their findings, he said both parties in the various sports have problems which are leading to the impasse between them.
