Sierra Leone Senior National Football Team Leone Stars were told by president Bio on the eve of their return match against Nigeria to defeat Super Eagles and request for the amount they want as reward.
President Bio made this promise to the Leone Stars Players when he visited the team’s training on the eve of the above match.
Leone Stars forced the Super Eagles to a 4-4 draw in Nigeria coming from 4-0 down with one goal in the first half and three goals in the second half.
After the match in Nigeria, the president tweeted and commended them for their hard fight after going four goals down.
He went on that he believed with such performance they are not ready to conceive defeat any longer.
At their training in Freetown, he told them that he is not a technical man but believes that they have enough to defeat the Nigerians.
President Bio told them that in sports it is not by size but by how determine the team is. In this case, he said with the determination they have, they can defeat Nigeria and qualify for the AFCON 2021 in Cameroun.
He told the players that he did not come with a parcel for them as usual but said there is already a standby blank cheque for them of which they will determine the amount they want only if they win.
He urged the players to make Sierra Leone proud by defeating Nigeria.
On behalf of the players, the Vice Captain of the team, Mohamed Medo Kamara thanked President Bio for his visit and the morale he has given to the team.
He went on that in return they (the players)d= will make Sierra Leone proud by defeating the Nigerians. Medo assured that not only the Nigeria match but they will go ahead to win their remaining matches to qualify for the AFCON 2021 competition in Cameroun.
