An attempt to turn an accident into an assassination that is being propagated by some elements in both the traditional and social media has given NEW AGE, the impetus to get the other side of the story as the cannons of journalism demand.
Eyewitnesses explained to NEW AGE that the two guys in the lorry- the driver, Mamadu Musa Barrie and Political Science Graduand of Fourah Bay College, Abdulai J Fofana were taken from the truck when the accident occurred and they were allegedly beaten by guards of the first lady while those who were injured in the first Lady’s motorcade were rushed to the Magbesseneh Hospital in Lunsar en-route to Freetown.
“What I saw was an accident and what happened after the accident was horrible as the first lady didn’t show any compassion for the other party who was involved in the accident where two people were equally injured,” an eyewitness revealed
The eyewitnesses continued that they left both the truck driver and the other guy (Graduand of FBC) unattended for more than three hours after they have been allegedly beaten by some of the guards attached to the first lady before they were taken to the hospital.
The Lorry Driver and Abdulai who hired the driver were taken to the hospital at Lunsar and brought to Freetown for further treatment.
Also, in Freetown, Abdulai Fofana, the would-be graduate has undergone a spinal-cord operation and he is in a critical state at the Life Care Hospital with Police Men around his bed while the truck driver is at the Connaught Hospital also in a critical state handcuffed.
Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic at the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) AIG Brima Kanneh said that it is news to him that the victims were handcuffed and ill-treated by the police.
“That is not possible! How are they getting treatment if they are handcuffed. That is not true,” AIG Kanneh denied.
He confirmed that the Traffic Division of the Sierra Leone Police is investigating traffic offenses of accident and not an assassination attempt, adding that if it was an assassination, it would have been investigated by the CID.
However, NEW AGE will confirm the ill-treatment of the victims at the hospital with pictorial and video evidence
