SLFA Appoints SWASAL Members as Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General

The Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has appointed two members of the Sierra Leone Sports Writers Association (SWASAL) to key administrative positions within the country’s football governing body.

Mohamed Benson Bawoh has been confirmed as the new Secretary General, having previously served in an acting capacity following his tenure as Deputy Secretary General. Meanwhile, Ismail Saidu Kanu Esq. has been appointed Deputy Secretary General after recently working with the senior national team, Leone Stars.

The appointments were announced through an official press release following an Executive Committee meeting held as part of the SLFA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its administrative structure and improve football governance across the country.

According to the SLFA, the leadership expressed strong confidence in the experience, professionalism, and dedication of both officials, noting that their appointments align with the association’s strategic goals and football development programmes.

“The Executive Committee believes that Mr. Bawoh and Mr. Kanu possess the leadership qualities required to advance the administration of football in Sierra Leone,” the statement read.

The SLFA wished the newly appointed Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General success as they assume their responsibilities in service of national football growth.

Members of SWASAL have also congratulated their colleagues, expressing pride in their achievements and confidence in their ability to deliver. The association thanked the SLFA for recognizing media professionals within football administration and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the FA to promote and develop the game nationwide.
