AGL Donates Essential Food Items to Sea Side and Moa Wharf Communities

Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has donated food items worth Le 531,220 to residents of the Sea Side and Moa Wharf communities as part of its Ramadan humanitarian support.

The donation was presented on Monday, 16 March 2026, at the Freetown Terminal Limited. The event was witnessed by a Member of Parliament, Councillors, community chairpersons, and other stakeholders from the two beneficiary communities.

Speaking during the presentation, Director of Cluster WAF, Captain Fabjan Kokan, stated that the donation reflects the company’s tradition of supporting communities.

“This is what we are doing, and it is part of our obligations humanity, compassion, and empathy for the people,” he said.

Captain Kokan emphasized that the world needs more acts of kindness and solidarity, noting that basic necessities such as food and water remain critical needs for many communities.

He also called on partners and other organizations to join such humanitarian efforts.

“Humanity is humanity regardless of tribe or skin colour. If we can inspire others to support communities, we can move from step one to step ten in helping those in need,” he said.

He further expressed appreciation to the AGL team, noting that their collective effort makes the initiative possible.

The General Manager of AGL, Maroun Abi-Aad, said the donation was a way of appreciating the communities that host the company’s operations.

“The month of Ramadan reminds us of love and sharing. We hope this gesture will bring peace and unity. I wish everyone a blessed Ramadan,” he said.

The Human Resource Manager, Yvonne Elliott, expressed appreciation to the community members for their cooperation and presence. She said the company remains committed to strengthening its relationship with surrounding communities through compassion and solidarity.

Responding on behalf of beneficiaries, Member of Parliament, Princess Daramy, thanked AGL for what she described as a timely intervention.

“We appreciate this support and encourage them to continue helping our communities. We also need facilities such as toilets, solar lighting, and water to help the community grow,” she said.

The Chairperson of the Sea Side community, Lamine Koroma, said the community has benefited from the initiative for more than five years. “We are very happy about this donation. The items will be distributed to nine mosques, while the remaining portions will be shared across 13 zones within the community,” he explained. He added that AGL has supported the community in several areas, including education and social support.

Chairman of the Moa Wharf community, Abubakarr Barrie, expressed gratitude for the company’s continuous assistance.

“We really appreciate their efforts. We will ensure the items reach the right people. Our five mosques will be prioritized, followed by the elderly in the community,” he said.

He also acknowledged AGL for constructing a community centre for the Moa Wharf community.

Councillor Abu Baker Tejan Jaloh of Ward 429 thanked AGL for its continued support to the constituency.

“We have 12 mosques in our ward, and the distribution will be done through the mosques to ensure fairness,” he said.
