Cricket Sierra Leone few days ago, deployed 75 Development Officers in the provinces to train the women in 30 Girls Schools, both primary and Secondary Schools. The 75 development officers were divided into three portions for the three provinces, which are the North, South, and the Eastern provinces.
Among them, 29 Development Officers were deployed in Bo, 19 officers in Kenema, and 14 went to Lunsar. In the north, the officers went to Lunsar in the East, they went to Kenema, and in the South, they were in Bo.
The Development Officers used three days to train the women in the various schools. On the fourth today, the development officers will be organizing games for the various schools to compete for the Criiio trophy.
They will be dividing the various schools into four groups. After the group stage,e they will go straight into the quarter-final stage, semi-final, and the final stage.
At the end of the final matches in the three provinces, the winners of the final matches will go home with the Criiio champion trophy plus the gold medals, and the runner-up will go home with the runner-up trophy and the silver medals.
Apart from the winners and runner-up, the organizers will also give trophies to the best batswoman, best bowler, best fielder, and the best-behaved school.
According to a report from the three provinces, thousands of pupils showed up throughout the three-day activities. The development officers were assisted by the PHE teachers in the various schools.
Yesterday, the schools organized inter-housing competitions to select players for the Criiio final match today.
According to the development officers, for a few days, they have earmarked several talents among the lots that took part in the program.
Some of these potential talents, they said, will soon make their way into the junior national teams. The provincial trainings are also ways of increasing participation and extending Cricket Sierra Leone’s base beyond the confines of Freetown.
