AYV, ECSL Present Handsome Prices To Cypher Rappers

Young African Voices (AYV) Media Empire in collaboration with the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has presented prices to winners of ‘cypher hit the street peace edition’ for their role in spreading peace during the June 24th multi-tier elections.

AYV hit the street peace edition was sponsored by ECSL and the colorful event took place on the 14th July 2023 at ECSL headquarters, Tower Hill Freetown.

Lamin A. N Conteh AKA Telo winner of cypher rapper competition took home Thirty Thousand New Leones followed by Joshua K Bockarie first runner-up also took home Fifteen Thousand New Leones.

Hawanatu Sheriff the only female who represented Lumley Best also took home Five Thousand New Leones.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of AYV Messeh Leone said that they organized the said event in order to preach pace messages during and after elections.

He commended Sierra Leoneans for maintaining peace during and after election adding that the youths used their talents and urged their colleagues not to engage in violence activities during June Multi-tier elections.

He added that the youth used the cypher medium to preach peace to Sierra Leonean through music and dance. He continued that AYV played its role independently in informing the public about the electoral processes.

‘’We provided the platform for everyone although the media can sometimes be misguided but AYV played a crucial role in consolidating and sustaining our peace’’ he said.

He assured the public of their commitment in providing credible, balanced and factual news.

The Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed K. Konneh expressed thanks and appreciation to AVY for creating the platform where youths engaged their peers about the important of peace during and after elections.

‘’The Commission made the process open in order to allow everyone to participate in the electoral process and the commission is happy the process was free, fair and credible,’’ he noted.

He informed the press that the cypher hit the street edition helped to sensitize the public about voting process which also helped to reduce void votes during the election.

He concluded by calling on the youths to use their crafts to preach peace to the young people in the country.

The winner of cypher rapper Lamin A. N Contech AKA Telo thanked the organizers of the event for providing such platform for the youths. This platform helps young people to showcase their talent, he said. He called on the youths to use their talents in promoting peace in the country.’ ’

“Elections are over we should embrace peace in our beloved country,” he noted.
