President Bio Launches Post-Ebola Recovery Social Investment Fund

The President of Sierra Leone H.E President Julius Maada Bio has launched the Post Ebola Recovery Social Investment Fund (PERSIF). The event which was coordinated by office of the President in collaboration with the Ministry Of Social Welfare took place at the Ministry of Social Welfare Conference Room New England Ville Freetown last Thursday 30th July 2020.

When launching the PERSIF Project the President said that he valued the services of the nation’s healthy life and human capital development agenda. He thanked the Country Manager of the African Development Bank and representative of the Mano River Union for their support of the PERSIF, noting that they did their best despite the global pandemic in the country. H .E President Julius Maada reiterated that the Ebola virus which wiped the lives of many health workers  in the country left deep and painful foot prints in Sierra Leone. He concluded by thanking all the ministers who joined hands by working together for a successful launch of the Post-Ebola Recovery Social Investment Fund.

In her statement, the Hon. Minister of social welfare, Baindu Dassama Kamara stated that she was very excited for such opportunity in launching the Post Ebola Recovery Social Investment fund. The core purpose of the PERSIF Project is to seek to contribute to the selection of basic social services restoration of livelihoods and economic opportunities for targeted beneficiaries, she said.

She expressed that PERSIF Project was approved by the Board of the African Development Bank in October 2015 during the time of Ebola pandemic in the country. She thanked His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio for launching the Post Ebola Recovery Social Investment Fund.

The Sectary General of Mano River Union, Madam Medina Wesseh also thanked H.E President Julius Maada Bio for the bold step that he has taken and also for implementing the project.

She furthered that H.E president Julius Maada Bio’s government is working very hard in the interest of Mama Salone and for all Sierra Leoneans.

She also thanked the Hon Minister of Social Welfare for the wonderful job she has been doing in her ministry.
