Sierra Leone Wrestling Association on Wednesday joined the fight against COVID19 in Sierra Leone with a donation of bags of rice and some amount of money to their players and coaches.
In the donation each player and coach received one bag of rice plus the cash envelope. According to the president of the association, Prince Sualley the executive is aware of the constrains the coaches and the players are undergoing during the Coronavirus outbreak.
In this regard, he said they decided to donate food and some amount of money to the athletes and coaches. He went on that majority of their athletes are school going pupils with some in colleges and Technical institutions.
Sualley said such donations will boost the morale of the athletes to concentrate on their individual trainings while waiting for the ban on sports activities to be lifted.
The above donation he said will also serve as a help to their parents and guidance who are taking care of them. He went on that they also use the occasion to sensitize the athletes and the coaches that the Coronavirus has not ended yet and they should go strictly by the precautions announced by the medical experts.
The association also informed the athletes about the upcoming international competitions and their own national competitions.
Among the beneficiaries were Foday Kargbo, the Olympic Solidarity scholarship holder who is presently engaged in self-training for the Olympic Games and the others.
Prince thanked the National Olympic Committee (NOC) who did the first donation and sensitized the athletes of various sports on how to stop the spread of the killer virus.
