Bo Pupils Participate in “Small Small Chinese” Christmas Party to Strengthen Cultural Ties

The Sierra Leone–China Friendship Association (SiLCHA), in partnership with the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone, over the weekend hosted a “Small Small Chinese” Christmas Party for pupils in Bo City, aimed at promoting cultural exchange and strengthening bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and China.

The event, which took place at the Sahara Hotel Hall in Bo, attracted pupils, teachers, parents, education stakeholders, innovators, officials from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), and members of SiLCHA. The programme provided a platform for pupils to interact, celebrate, and showcase their talents in a friendly and educational environment.

During the event, pupils demonstrated various skills through singing, dancing, and other creative performances, highlighting their talents and confidence. The children also participated in a communal celebration and were treated to refreshments, adding to the festive atmosphere.

In a video address, the Founder of SiLCHA, Madam Mariatu Kargbo, who is currently resident in China, expressed appreciation to the Chinese Embassy, the Government of Sierra Leone, and participating schools for their continued support. She reaffirmed SiLCHA’s commitment to its mission of building bridges between Sierra Leone and China, particularly through youth-focused initiatives.

Madam Kargbo further assured that the association would continue to promote awareness of the long-standing relationship between the two nations across all districts of Sierra Leone.

Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Bo, Assistant Director, Foday Sawaneh, noted that his superior officer was unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances. He described the programme as “mind-blowing” and emphasized its potential to positively impact the lives of young learners.

Mr. Sawaneh stated that the initiative was not merely celebratory but also educational, as it provided meaningful exposure to pupils’ talents and creativity. He pledged to convey the significance of the event to higher authorities within the ministry.

Participants commending SiLCHA and its partners for organizing an event that fostered cultural understanding, talent development, and continued friendship between Sierra Leone and China.

The Small Small Chinese Christmas Party ended on a joyful note, reinforcing SiLCHA’s vision of cultural cooperation, youth empowerment, and friendship between Sierra Leone and China.
