Few days ago, a press release from the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) stated that they want their present Chairman Hon. Francis Amara Konuwa to sop operating as their chairman.
According to the press release, the relationship between the chairman and his members has nothing good again to talk about.
They went on that for quite a long time now their Chairman has not held a meeting with its members. In this case, they held a meeting and pass a vote of no confidence on him and have asked his vice chairman, Prince Saquee to act as their chairman and represent the region in the EXCO meetings.
They copied the SLFA Secretary General Chris Kamara and all the three district chairmen.
In response to the press release, Hon. Konuwa said they write the release out of malice. He went on that the reasons they gave were not valid to relieve him from his position.
He went on that everybody in the country knows that there is a ban on all sports activities. Beside the ban on sports activities, there was also a ban on inter-district movement.
The Eastern Region FA, he said comprised of three districts which are Kenema, Kono and Kailahun.
He went on that he is based in Kenema the headquarter town a place they hold meetings if they want to meet.
Konuwa said even though they have lifted the inter-district ban, the ban on all sports activities is still in effect.
He said he started getting problem with some of his members when he declares to go for the SLFA Vice President position and will be in the camp of the stakeholders.
Konuwa said he declares to be with the stakeholders because he knows they have vision to develop the game.
He went on that as a football stakeholder and a citizen of Sierra Leone he has the right to belong to any camp he wants.
