Kids Happiness Foundation Donates To Kids

Kids Happiness Foundation Sierra Leone in Partnership with Sky Radio, donated Clothing, Shoes to Kids at Sumalia Town Community, these donations were to mark the International Day of the Girl child.

This event took place on Sunday 11th October 2020 at the Sumalia Town Community, Freetown.

Speaking to kids and parents at the Sumalia Town Community, the Chairperson and also Manager for Kids Happiness Foundation Sierra Leone, Tiana Alpha advised parents that they should do more for their kids especially the girl child as they are the future leaders.

She continued that 11 October every year, the United Nations has declared an International Day of Girl Child, and  to reflect on the challenges girls are facing  which include early Marriage, gender base violence etc.

She emphasized that most girls are in that street as commercial sex workers and they are also dating big men because of money and poverty.

She furthered that parents should give Education to their kids, that Education is a life time gifts.

She also appreciated parents that can go extra mile to see their kids well educated.

She also advised parents to give equal space, equal quality to the girl child, and also give voice to their girl child.

She concluded that parents should invest in their girl child so that their tomorrow could be better for them.

The chief Executive Officer of Kids Happiness Foundation Sierra Leone, Ambassador Idrissa Bangura said that they targeted one hundred and fifty Kids (150) in the Sumalia Town community including boys and girls.

He went on to say that their foundation has no sponsor but they are trying in their own little way so that they can help the kids and encourage them in their education.

He furthered that every year they always celebrate the International Day of Girl Child by donating none food items and learning materials to kids at the Sumalia Town Community as their gifts and to encourage the kids to learn.

Ambassador Idrissa Bangura continued that parents should always take care of their kids and monitor their books.

The founder and president for African Poetry Society Mohamed Tafsir Fofanah said parents should embrace their girl child because they are a gift from God.

The Country Representative Platform for Advocacy Research and capacity Building for NGO’s Africa- PRONG SL Paul Lengar in his keynotes address said that most of the girls are using social media and it is the platform where they learnt so many things.

He continued that social media exploit the girl child; he advised them to use their phones wisely, and avoid social media.

He maintained that poverty can lead girls into prostitutions, and poverty can make them use and misuse themselves.

He advised them to report any man to their parents that forcefully misuse them.

He went on to say that parents should have good relationship with their girls, and also parents should always look after their kids at home.
