The Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) has published the Analysis of Provisional Registration Data ahead of June 24th 2023 multi-tier election in Sierra Leone
According to the data, 3,525,843 people were captured by the electoral registrar and of that figure, 257,123 data are recorded as duplicates which may be due to double registration.
The data revealed that 607 people were captured as underage across the country of which the Northern Region has the highest number of underage registrants followed by the North-Western Region.
The data revealed that the Western Area, both urban and rural combined registered the highest with 927,733, followed by the Eastern Region with 677, 774.
In terms of strongholds of the two main political parties, the North-Western region which is the stronghold of the main opposition APC registered about 1,946,043 while the South-Eastern region which is the stronghold of the ruling SLPP registered about 1, 322,812.
With this provisional data, political parties will begin their permutation as to what they will do to enhance their chances of winning.
Sierra Leone People Party Government does not want a run-off hence they are campaigning for people to vote massively for incumbent President Julius Maada Bio while the main opposition All People Congress (APC) is currently in a state of political uncertainty.
